Australian Barbecue Snags Recipe

Barbecue snags are thick Australian sausages, usually with a mild flavor and made with beef, pork, garlic, and onions.

They are a staple of almost every Australian barbecue party, where the sausages are accompanied by mashed potatoes, grilled onions, tomato sauce, barbecue sauce, salads, chutneys, and loaves of artisanal bread on the side.

RECIPE INGREDIENTS

Beef sausages

Onions

Garlic, minced

BBQ or tomato sauce

Cooking Oil

Slices of White bread for serving

DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE AUSTRALIAN BARBECUE SNAGS RECIPE

Rinse and slice onions. Over medium heat, heat oil and sauté the onions and cook until they turn golden brown in colour. Once done, set aside

In a separate pan and heat two tablespoons of oil in it. Add the sausages and fry them. Cook on both sides until they are browned throughout. This will allow them to cook evenly from all sides.

When you’re almost done, carefully slice all the sausages through the middle to butterfly them. It’s time to turn them over, allowing the insides to cook properly as well.

After the sausages reach your preferred level of doneness, it’s time for plating.

Take a sausage and place it on a slice of white bread. Add sauteed onions to the top, and drizzle with either tomato or barbecue sauce. Your delicious barbequed snags are ready to be served.
