Egg Salad Sandwich Recipe
Egg salad sandwich is a simple and humble American sandwich dating back to sometime in the 1800s, but not before 1762 because that’s when the sandwich was formally invented.
It consists of a combination of peeled hard-boiled eggs, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper between two slices of bread.Before the egg salad was placed between bread, in the early 1900s, it used to be served on a bed of lettuce.
Nowadays, it’s an American staple because it’s so simple and everyone has the basic ingredients to make the egg salad sandwich in their kitchen.
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
2 slices white, wheat, multigrain, or rye bread, toasted or plain
1 large egg, hard-boiled, peeled, and chopped
Pinch curry powder
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Lettuce(optional)
1 to 2 tablespoons mayonnaise, to taste
2 tablespoons chopped celery
1 tablespoon chopped green onion or chives
DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE EGG SALAD SANDWICH RECIPE
In a bowl, mash up the chopped egg a bit with a fork. Mix together the chopped hard-boiled egg, mayonnaise, celery and green onion. Add in salt and pepper and curry powder to taste. Mix with a spoon.
Toast your bread slices if making the sandwich with toast. Put a layer of lettuce on one slice of bread, spread the egg mixture on top of the lettuce, put another slice of bread on top and serve.
