Hot Buttered Rum
This hot buttered rum recipe is very simple and can be used to quickly mix up one or two drinks at a moment’s notice.
If you’re a big fan of the cocktail or plan to serve it at a party, you can also make up a big batch that can be stored in the refrigerator so all you have to do is pour, stir, and drink.
RECIPE INGREDIENTS
BUTTERED RUM BATTER:
4 Tablespoons butter, softened
3 Tablespoons packed brown sugar
1/2 cup vanilla ice cream, softened
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
RUM DRINK:
2 cup apple cider
1 cup rum
DIRECTIONS ON HOT BUTTERED RUM
Making the Buttered Rum Batter:
In a mixing bowl, beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in ice cream and cinnamon, then spoon into a mason jar or resealable container.
Store in freezer until mostly hardened, about 2 hours or until ready to serve.
Making the Drinks:
In a medium saucepan, heat cider until boiling, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and pour into a pitcher or easy-to-serve container.
Place about 2 tablespoons of buttered rum batter into each mug.
Fill about 1/3 of the way up with rum, then top with hot apple cider. Stir before serving.
