DIRECTION ON HOW TO MAKE SOUTH AFRICAN BOBOTIE

Pre-heat oven at 350 degree F/180 degree Celsius.

Mix together milk and bread In a medium bowl to soften it. Set aside.

Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish, or a cast iron.

Heat up a large saucepan or large skillet over medium heat, then add butter until melted, followed by onions and garlic. Cook until it is soft for about 5mins

Then add ground beef and stir constantly to break it up, cook until beef is no longer pink or slightly brown.

Stir in the spices: curry powder, turmeric, ground cumin, 2 bay leafs, coriander and dried herbs for about 4mins. Remove from the stove.

In a bowl, add soaked bread slice, chutney, grated apple, lemon juice and zest, and Worcestershire – add raisins here, if desired. Season to taste with salt and pepper.

Add bread mixture to beef mixture, mix until well combined. Pour mixture into a greased casserole dish or cast iron pan.

Combine together eggs, milk and seasoning in a separate bowl.

Pour the egg mixture over the beef. Arrange the bay leaves on top of it .

Bake for another 20 minutes  until the eggs mixture has set and starting to turn brown

Remove then serve with yellow rice and vegetable.
