Homemade Peanut Butter

Let learn this special recipe. I used to buy peanut butter at the market mostly all the time.

Sometimes I find them not healthy at all. Sometimes too ,they mix it with other ingredients to get a larger quantity for sale. Trust me, you need to learn this to help you get the best.

All you need is 4 simple ingredients and about 15 minutes!

This recipe calls for a bit of oil in it. The oil is there to make this peanut butter creamy for easy spreading. Otherwise you peanut butter would most likely be course and quite hard to use.

INGREDIENT YOU WILL NEED

Peanuts. Buy raw peanuts that have not been salted from the market. Roasting your peanut at home. You can also buy roasted peanuts to use in this recipe however, they are mostly salty.

Peanut Oil. The oil is used to make the peanut butter smooth as homemade peanut butter tends to be a bit dry. You can alternate peanut oil with sesame oil and Canola Oil .

Honey or sugar alternative of your choice desired for sweetness.(Optional)

HEALTH BENEFITS OF PEANUT BUTTER

  1. Weight loss. Several studies suggest that eating peanuts and other nuts can help people maintain their weight, or even help with weight loss.
  2. Helps boost heart health.
  3. It helps in bodybuilding.
  4. Manages blood sugar levels.
  5. It reduces the risk of breast disease.

EQUIPMENT

Baking sheet/saucepan

Food processor or blender

Spatula

Container with lid

ADDITIONAL TIPS FOR A PERFECT HOME-MADE PEANUT BUTTER

  1. It recommended to store the peanut butter in the fridge (where it can maintain its quality for another 3-4 months). If you don’t refrigerate, oil separation can occur
  2. Make sure the nuts are evenly spread out on the tray and they’re not overlapping if you are using oven to roast.
  3. Adding the vegetable oil(peanut oil) will help make the peanut butter spreadable and prevent it from becoming too tough.
  4. Adding honey or maple syrup is totally optional, but it really adds flavor and sweetness

DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE PEANUT BUTTER

Creamy Peanut Butter:

Pre heat oven(if using) to 350°F. Place parchment paper in baking pan

Place the peanuts on a baking sheet and bake until lightly golden-brown about 10 minutes. (You can skip this step if you prefer raw nut butter or if you’re using pre-toasted nuts) OR

On a low heat, place saucepan on a stove. Pour in your raw peanuts then stir continuously until peanut is cooked and brownish in colour.

Using strong blender  or a food processor, place the peanut in your blender or processor and process for one minute.

Scrape down the sides of the bowl and add a tablespoon of the oil and a tablespoon of the honey(Optional)

Repeat this process until your reach your desired consistency and taste.

If your mixture isn’t creamy enough, just add a teaspoon of oil and start the blender again. Continue adding oil, a teaspoon at a time, until you get the consistency you like( adding  too much oil,  could make the peanut butter too thin)

Chunky Peanut Butter:

Coarsely chop about 50 of the roasted peanuts( You don’t want to crush them completely). Set them aside.

After processing or grounding  the remaining nuts, then add the coarsely chopped peanuts and mix until well combined.

This peanut butter can keep for up to a month if stored properly in a sealed container or sealed jar.
