How To Make Chef Salad

A chef’s salad is a big salad that is usually served as a meal of its own. It consists of a variety of vegetables, hard-boiled eggs, cheese, and meats such as ham or turkey meat.

The salad can be served with a variety of different dressings. No one can agree about the origins of chef’s salad, so there are quite a few theories about its invention.

Some claim that it originated from salmagundi, a 17th-century dish consisting of anchovies, chopped meat, eggs, onions, and oil.

 

 

RECIPE INGREDIENTS

4 oz. cooked chicken or turkey breast, diced

6 cup chopped lettuce romaine

4 hard-boiled eggs, halved

4 oz. ham, diced

4 oz. Swiss cheese, cubed

1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved

1 cucumber, sliced

Kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper

Preferred dressing, such as ranch or a vinaigrette

 

 

DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE CHEF SALAD

Place lettuce in a large serving clean bowl or platter. Arrange remaining ingredients on top and season tomatoes, cucumbers, and eggs with salt and pepper. 

Serve with desired dressing of choice.
